Glossary
A producer license is a state-issued license that allows a person or agency to sell, solicit or negotiate insurance in that state for specific lines of authority, such as life, accident and health, property or casualty. Selling in another state requires a nonresident license there, and selling variable products also requires securities registration.
Licensing is state by state. Most states follow the NAIC model for producer licensing, but continuing education, line definitions and renewal cycles differ, and agencies running national online campaigns must make sure every lead is handled by someone licensed where the prospect lives.
InsuranceQuoteWidget is a software company, not a producer: it holds no insurance license and does not sell, solicit, quote or bind insurance. The calculators produce estimates, and the licensed agency that embeds them is responsible for every sales conversation that follows.
