FAQ

Before you sign up

Who is InsuranceQuoteWidget built for?

It is built for US insurance agencies and individual producers who want their website to qualify prospects instead of only collecting phone numbers. That includes independent and captive agents, life and health producers, Medicare and benefits brokers, and the marketers who manage agency sites. If you write a line and want prospects to work out their own coverage need before you call, the calculators are designed for that job.

Does InsuranceQuoteWidget sell insurance or resell my leads?

No to both. InsuranceQuoteWidget is a software company: it holds no insurance license and does not sell, solicit, quote or bind coverage. The leads your calculators produce belong to your agency's account and are delivered to you by email, your contacts list and your webhook. The licensed conversation that follows is entirely yours.

How is a needs calculator different from a quote request form?

A quote form captures contact details; a needs calculator captures the prospect's situation. The visitor enters figures such as income, debts, existing coverage or expected care costs, sees an estimate of what they may need, and then decides to reach out. You receive those inputs and results with the lead, so the first call starts with their numbers. Our comparison page covers the trade-offs in more depth.

Can a captive agent put these calculators on a carrier-approved site?

Often yes, but your carrier decides. The calculators estimate coverage need without naming carriers, products or prices, which makes them easier to approve than tools that compare companies. Many carriers still require pre-approval of any third-party tool and its disclaimer text, so send the page to your marketing or compliance contact before it goes live.

Is there a way to try the insurance calculators before paying?

Yes, and you don't need to pay or start a trial for it. Every plan includes the insurance calculators, so on the free Producer plan you can embed up to 5 of them on a test page and submit a few leads to yourself. Paid monthly and yearly plans start with a 14-day free trial (card required, one per agency). You can also try the live calculators on this site first.

FAQ

Using the calculators

How many insurance calculators are available right now?

There are 30 insurance calculators live today, across life, health, Medicare-age planning, income protection, annuities, property and casualty, auto, business and specialty lines. The calculator directory shows every one and which line it serves. New calculators appear there, with their own page, on the day they are released.

What does a website visitor actually see in a calculator?

They see labeled input fields, results that update as they type, and a plain-language Definitions block that explains terms such as elimination period or surrender value. There are also Share and Print options and a disclaimer stating that results are estimates. The contact form appears alongside, so a visitor can explore freely and reach out only when ready.

Can I change the disclaimer and the definitions?

Yes. Each calculator carries a disclaimer you control, so you can match your agency's approved wording or add language your carrier or state requires. The Definitions block can be switched off, shown collapsed, shown expanded or placed in a tab. Keep the estimate-not-a-quote message in whatever wording you choose.

Can Spanish-speaking prospects use the calculators?

Yes. The calculator interface runs in 2 languages today (English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese and Arabic, shown right to left), and the visitor can switch between them, including field labels, results and definitions. Your lead form and follow-up process should match, so make sure someone licensed and fluent can take those calls.

How accurate are the calculator results?

They are estimates based on the figures and assumptions the visitor enters, such as growth rates, years until retirement or care cost inflation. The math is transparent and the definitions explain each input, but results are not quotes, premiums or underwriting decisions. Treat them as a structured starting point for the needs conversation, not a recommendation.

Can I suggest a calculator for a line you do not cover yet?

Yes. Property, auto, commercial and specialty calculators have joined the library and appear on the calculators page with that label. If your book depends on a line that is not on the list, tell us what the prospect would need to work out and what you would want in the lead.

FAQ

Putting calculators on your site

What do I paste into my website to add a calculator?

The default embed is one div and one script tag. Paste them where the calculator should appear and it renders inline on the page. If your site builder handles frames better, you can use the inline frame option instead, which resizes itself to fit. A direct link is also available for emails and social posts.

Which website builders does the embed work with?

It works on WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, HighLevel funnels and websites, and any page where you can add HTML. On builders that strip scripts from certain blocks, use their custom-code or embed element, or switch to the iframe mode. Our embed anywhere page walks through each mode.

Will the calculator clash with my site's design or break my theme?

No. The inline embed renders inside an isolated shadow DOM, so your site's stylesheet cannot distort the calculator and the calculator's styles cannot leak into your pages. You choose from 12 themes and 20 colour palettes, set custom fonts, pick light, dark or automatic mode, and add custom CSS if you need finer control.

Can I offer several calculators in one place?

Yes. A widget bundles several calculators and presents them as a floating launcher with a list, as tabs, as buttons that open popups, or as a grid of cards. A household-insurance page, for example, could offer life, disability and long-term care side by side, and every lead still records which calculator the visitor used.

Can the calculator open from my own button instead of sitting on the page?

Yes. Besides inline placement, you can use a popup button, a floating bubble in the corner of every page, or a trigger that attaches the calculator to any link or button you already have. That last option suits agencies that want a 'Check your coverage' button in the site header or on a service page.

FAQ

Leads and where they go

What information comes through with each lead?

Each lead includes the visitor's name, email and/or phone, any message, and their consent, plus every calculator input and result. It also records the page URL and campaign attribution: UTM tags, Google, Meta and Microsoft click IDs, referrer, landing page and first-touch source. See pre-qualified leads for an example of the full record.

How do I know when a new lead arrives?

By default you get an email for every new lead, and the lead appears in your built-in contacts list, where you can add notes and set statuses. On plans with webhooks, the lead is also posted to your CRM or automation tool within moments. You can switch the email alerts off if your CRM already notifies your team.

How do I send leads into HighLevel?

Create a workflow in HighLevel with an inbound webhook trigger, copy its URL, and paste it into your webhook setting, either agency-wide or on a single calculator. Each submission then arrives as JSON with contact details, calculator results and flat utm_* fields you can map to custom fields. The HighLevel guide shows the mapping step by step.

Can I send leads somewhere other than HighLevel?

Yes. The webhook posts JSON to any HTTPS endpoint, so you can route it through Zapier or Make into almost any CRM, spreadsheet or messaging tool, or point it at your own server. Each calculator can have its own webhook, and any calculator without one falls back to your agency-wide address.

What happens when the same person submits more than once?

They are kept as one contact. Contacts are matched within your agency by email first and then by phone, and a returning visitor's new submission is added to their existing record. That means you can see, for instance, that a client who ran the life calculator in spring came back to the long-term care calculator in autumn.

What if my account goes over its contact limit?

New leads stop being saved until you upgrade or make room, although the visitor still sees a normal success message. We email you when this happens, at most once a day, so you can act quickly. Enterprise has unlimited contacts, so this applies only to accounts on Producer or Agency.

Is there protection against spam submissions?

Yes. Lead submissions are rate limited, at roughly 30 per minute, to blunt automated floods. Views and share-with-a-friend actions are counted separately; only a submitted form creates a contact. If you see suspicious leads, reviewing their referrer and landing page in the lead record usually reveals the source.

FAQ

Plans, trials and billing

Which plan do I need for the insurance calculators?

Any plan. The insurance calculators are included on all three plans, starting with the free Producer plan, which embeds up to 5 calculators with 100 contacts. Agency at $150 a month raises that to 50 calculators and adds webhooks and white-label; Enterprise at $210 a month removes the limits. The pricing page always reflects current plan contents.

What do the Producer and Agency plans include?

Producer is free and includes the insurance calculators, plus mortgage and loan calculators, with 5 calculators, 100 contacts and 1 seat, without webhooks. Agency at $150 a month raises the limit to 50 calculators, adds consumer finance calculators, webhooks, white-label and custom domains.

Is the yearly plan cheaper than paying monthly?

Yes. Paying yearly gives you 2 months free compared with twelve monthly payments. The lifetime option is a single payment instead of a subscription. Yearly plans also start with the same 14-day free trial as monthly ones.

What is the refund and cancellation policy?

Monthly plans can be cancelled any time, with no partial refunds for the current month. Yearly and lifetime purchases can be refunded within 14 days if the account has barely been used. The refund policy sets out the exact conditions.

How are card payments handled?

Card payments are processed by Stripe. Your full card number goes to Stripe and is never seen or stored by InsuranceQuoteWidget.

FAQ

Data, privacy and security

Who owns the lead data collected through my calculators?

The leads are your agency's business records, stored in your agency's workspace and delivered to you by email and webhook. Each workspace is isolated from every other account. How we process that data as your software provider is described in our privacy policy.

How is account and lead data protected?

Workspaces are isolated from each other, sign-in supports two-factor authentication, all traffic uses HTTPS, and stored credentials such as SMTP passwords are encrypted at rest. The security page explains each control. You remain responsible for securing the CRM or endpoint your webhook delivers to.

How can a visitor ask for their information to be deleted?

A visitor should contact the agency that collected their information, since the agency controls its own contact records and can remove them from the contacts list. Requests can also be made through our data request page. Remember that copies already sent to your CRM by webhook must be deleted there as well.

Can I send lead emails from my own domain?

Yes, on Agency and Enterprise. White-label lets you remove the powered-by badge, run a branded portal on your own domain, serve calculators from an address such as calculators.youragency.com, and send agency-branded emails through your own SMTP server. Details are on the white-label page.

FAQ

Compliance questions

Do I need consent before calling or texting a calculator lead?

Usually yes, and the stricter the method, the stricter the consent. The TCPA and FCC rules require prior express written consent for marketing calls or texts made with an autodialer or an artificial or prerecorded voice. The lead form records each visitor's consent, and you write the consent language yourself. Have counsel review it; this is not legal advice.

Can I use the calculators to market Medicare plans?

The calculators are educational and plan-neutral, so they do not name or compare Medicare Advantage or Part D plans. If your page also markets those plans, the CMS Medicare Communications and Marketing Guidelines apply to the page, including the TPMO disclaimer, and a calculator lead does not replace a scope of appointment. Check with your carrier's compliance team.

Are there extra rules for the annuity calculators?

Yes. Annuity sales are subject to state suitability or best-interest rules, so a calculator result should never stand in for a documented recommendation. Variable annuities are securities, and selling them requires a securities registration in addition to a life insurance license. If you are not registered, do not use the variable annuity calculator to solicit sales.

My calculator is visible nationwide. What about licensing?

You can only sell where you are licensed and, for most carriers, appointed. A web page can be reached from any state, so route each lead to a producer licensed in the visitor's state, or decline leads from states where you cannot do business. Licensing varies by state; your compliance contact or the state insurance department is the authority.

Can I label the calculator's button 'Get a quote'?

The lead form belongs to your licensed agency, so how you label your own button is your decision under your state's rules. What the calculator itself shows is always an estimate of need or cost, never a quote, rate or binding offer, and its disclaimer says so. Wording that promises savings or approval is best avoided.

Where can I read more about compliance responsibilities?

Our compliance overview explains how responsibilities divide between the software and your agency, and the lead consent page covers how consent is recorded. The insurance disclosures state what InsuranceQuoteWidget is and is not. None of this is legal advice.
