What does the travel insurance calculator compare?
It multiplies the insured trip cost by the quoted rate to estimate the premium and divides it by the number of travelers. It prices the CFAR version from its own rate, then compares three outcomes if the trip is cancelled: full repayment for a covered reason, partial repayment under CFAR, and the full trip cost at risk without coverage.
Cancel For Any Reason usually repays 50% to 75% of the trip cost, depending on the plan design, so the traveler enters the percentage from the policy. The calculator shows that amount next to the premium difference, which is the heart of the CFAR decision.
Premiums are only the rates the traveler enters. Actual prices depend on ages, trip length, destination, state of residence and the plan chosen, and the disclaimer says so.
