Is InsuranceQuoteWidget an insurance company or agency?

No. InsuranceQuoteWidget is a software company. We are not an insurance company, agency, broker or producer, and we hold no insurance license in any state. We do not solicit, sell, negotiate, quote or bind insurance, and we do not recommend any insurance product, plan or carrier.

When you see a calculator on an agency's website, the agency that published it is the one offering insurance services. Any contact you receive after submitting a calculator comes from that agency, not from us.

What do the calculators actually tell you?

They produce estimates of a coverage need, a savings amount or an income figure, based only on what the visitor enters and on general assumptions shown with the result. An estimate is not:

• a quote, rate or premium;
• an underwriting or eligibility decision;
• a recommendation to buy, replace or cancel a policy;
• financial, tax, investment or legal advice.

Actual prices and coverage depend on a carrier's underwriting, the policy terms and the rules of the state where the policy is issued.

What are agencies responsible for?

Agencies and producers who embed our calculators remain responsible for every regulated activity, including:

• Licensing and appointments. Holding the right licence in every state where they market or sell, and any carrier appointments those states require. Licensing varies by state; the directory of state insurance departments and NIPR are the starting points for checking requirements.
• Carrier rules. Following the advertising and branding rules of the carriers they represent, including approval requirements captive agents often face.
• Advertising rules. Making sure their website, calculator wording and follow-up communications meet state insurance advertising regulations.
• Annuity suitability and best interest. Meeting the suitability or best-interest standard their state applies to annuity recommendations. A calculator estimate is never a substitute for that review.
• Medicare and health marketing. Following CMS rules for Medicare Advantage and Part D marketing, including required disclaimers and scope-of-appointment rules, and any rules that apply to ACA marketplace plans.
• Consent. Getting the consent required before calling or texting a lead. See the lead consent guide.

What about variable annuities?

Variable annuities are securities as well as insurance products. Selling them requires a securities registration in addition to an insurance license, and they are sold by prospectus. Our variable annuity calculator illustrates hypothetical growth for education only. It does not project actual returns and is not an offer of any security.

Are you connected to Medicare or HealthCare.gov?

No. InsuranceQuoteWidget is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Medicare, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, HealthCare.gov, the IRS or any other federal or state government agency. Health and Medicare-related calculators are educational and plan-neutral; they do not compare or recommend specific plans.
