Property & casualty
HO-6 is the standard homeowners policy form for condominium and co-op unit owners. It covers the owner's personal property, the interior of the unit that the association's master policy does not, improvements and betterments, personal liability, and loss of use. Loss assessment coverage is often included or available.
The right HO-6 limit depends on the association's master policy. A bare-walls master policy leaves the owner responsible for fixtures, cabinets and flooring, while an all-in policy covers far more. Reading the condo bylaws is the step most often skipped.
The condo HO-6 calculator does this math with the prospect's own numbers. Its key inputs will be the master policy type, the value of interior finishes and improvements, and personal property, which together tell the producer how much building coverage the unit owner actually needs.
