Business insurance
Business interruption insurance, also called business income coverage, replaces lost net income and pays continuing expenses such as payroll and rent while a business is closed or slowed by a covered physical loss. It is usually part of a commercial property or business owner's policy and is subject to a waiting period and a time or dollar limit.
Most businesses underestimate how long it takes to reopen after a fire or storm, especially when permits, equipment lead times and lost customers are considered. The limit should reflect a realistic restoration period plus any extended period of indemnity after reopening.
Claims require proof of the income lost, so clean financial records matter. The business interruption calculator does this math with the prospect's own numbers. its inputs will be monthly revenue, continuing expenses and an estimated restoration period, the same figures an adjuster will ask for.
